A local company providing a world wide service
Woodsons of Aberdeen Ltd. is a family owned and managed business specialising in sales and service of marine electronics since 1945. In the early 1960's Woodsons established a factory in the heart of Aberdeen, manufacturing radio-telephones, talk-back systems and communication antennas primarily for the fishing and pleasure market, both in the UK and overseas.
During the 1970's our customers in the fishing industry required a more comprehensive range of wheelhouse equipment allowing them to detect and catch fish more efficiently as well as navigate and communicate more effectively. In order to satisfy this demand we reached agreements with various overseas companies to import, market, install and service their equipment in the UK.
Principle among these companies were Electoacoustic (ELAC) of Kiel, Germany, manufacturer of sonar, echo-sounders and other acoustic devices. In those early days of commercial fishing Woodsons were integral in the introduction and use of acoustics equipment to the UK fishing industry, specifically installed to detect fish on seabed and mid water.
Woodsons also introduced new technologies to the expanding UK fishing industry from OKI of Japan (radar) and Robertsons of Norway (autopilots) further improving navigation and safety at sea.
Over the years we have continued to expand our portfolio of products and gain further experience in the installation and service of a wide range of equipments. This policy of marketing the best of marine electronic equipment continues today, as seen with our increasing involvement with the offshore oil industry, we continue to meet the demands for the latest technologies required by the maritime industry.
The e-SEA™ system from Woodsons is great. We've got a wireless connection through out the vessel and I have my Blackberry tuned into the network, so I have instant access to all my emails all the time. I also use Skype on our PC to keep in contact with my family at home and it makes going away much easier when you can have a video call to home at any time. If I had to choose between the broadband and the TV for onboard, I'd choose the broadband… magic
